Our approach to customer service and our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee means that we now have more 5-Star Google reviews than any other creative agency in the UK. Here are some of the latest…
When VPK UK & Ireland (formerly Rigid Containers) was looking for an agency to design a regular staff newsletter, its new Marketing and Communications Manager (Sally Cousins) knew just who to call. Having worked with our creative director at a previous company she knew that Pixooma would be a great choice.
From this first project we quickly demonstrated that the company’s initial confidence in us was well-founded. The newsletter design was very well received throughout the company, and we quickly demonstrated our commitment to providing a great service as well as excellence in design.
Since then we've not only produced every newsletter, but we've become a truly trusted creative partner to VPK. Now we are one of VPK UK & Ireland’s suppliers for everything from leaflets, brochures, posters, internal display boards, infographics, branded icons and social media designs, to adverts, roller banners, and pop-up displays. We even designed a branded gazebo for a special event that VPK UK & Ireland were exhibiting at.
I know any project I give to Pixooma will not only be beautifully designed, but will be delivered effectively and efficiently. I really value their approach to project management and customer service, and being able to turn around work at short notice is so important to me

Frequently asked questions
We'll guide you as much as you need from the initial conversation through to the finished project. And we'll agree in advance what you need to provide, and when.
If you have some great photography you can use, or are happy to search stock libraries for your projects then great, but if not we can take this off your hands. Similarly you can provide the text, or we can introduce you to one of our trusted copywriters.
And it isn't just the content we can help you with. As one of our key principles is "Managing you and your project", we'll help you with scheduling and managing each project, and we'll even prompt you about your own agreed 'milestones' to ensure it stays on track.
One of the most common questions we get asked is along the lines of "How quickly can we do it?".
We're always happy to advice on a case-by-case basis, but for most projects we'd suggest you allow two weeks for the first concept(s) to be delivered, and two or three days for each new proof following amendments from you.
Actually though, what is most often misunderstood is that the biggest influence on the time taken to complete ANY project is you, the client. Client's tend to under-estimate how long they will need to check each proof and feedback. Equally they often have more people involved than expected, or their day-to-day work gets in the way and causes delays.
Therefore we generally don't give exact timescales because it's normally not entirely within our control. However, if you had a specific deadline that must be met then we would set milestones for us and you to hit in order to make this happen
We don't quote hourly or day rates, as it is mostly irrelevant unless you also know how long something will take.
Instead we provide all our clients with a bespoke proposal which includes a fixed project fee. That way they know exactly what they'll be charged, which provides much greater peace of mind.
The short answer is: as many as you need.
The slightly longer answer is that we don’t specify how many visuals we'll produce for any project, because we believe that’s a distraction from the real project goals. In reality all our customers want is to get to that final approved design that precisely fits their needs, and – assuming the price was the same – it wouldn’t matter if that was the first and only design they saw, or the 20th. In fact we believe a design agency who hits the mark earlier is worth more - wouldn't you agree? More designs doesn’t naturally translate into a better design outcome.
So our process is always this:
We aim to provide one initial design which we think really hits the mark, BUT, should you not like the approach we'd provide an entirely new concept, and keep doing so (using your feedback) until we can get to one where you are totally happy.
That’s the basis of our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee – it’s all about the outcome.
Our comprehensive process (see 'What's involved…' above) ensures that it's very unlikely that the concept we present is completely off-target.
However, even if it is, this isn't problem. We simply use your feedback and our many years of experience to create a brand new concept that's much closer to your needs, and a better starting point for the project.
And don't worry, if we do need to start again, there is NO additional cost to you. The fees agreed at the start still apply, so you don't need to worry about escalating costs or nasty surprises in the final invoice. It's all part of our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.
No. We provide a fixed-price proposal that includes ALL amends. That means we don't charge for 'additional rounds'.
The only exceptions are if the brief has changed since the project has started, or if you ask us to make major changes to parts of the project that were already approved. In these unlikely events we'd always tell you in advance the extent of the additional costs - so you'll NEVER get a surprise at billing stage.
We find our clients are as keen as we are to complete the project so we've never had to charge extra.
No, you have a licence to use them. The stock library retains the ownership (otherwise they wouldn't be able to use the image again), but the terms of the licences are generally very generous.
In most cases you are free to use the image however you wish, whenever you like, and in as many applications as you like for ever.
Any images we source and licence for your project are licenced to you, and they'll be stored (along with information on the licences) in your client portal*.
*Every Pixooma client is provided with a secure 'Client Portal' where you can find lots of useful content and links including all completed project files and your invoices.
Most of our charge for stock imagery is the search itself. Stock images can be purchased for a few pounds from lots of sites, but finding suitable options is an art and a science.
We've been searching for, and using, stock imagery for over 20 years and we suspect that in that time we've searched through over 1 million images. Even with our experience and expertise though, it can take time to find the right images for a project, so we charge accordingly.
Our fixed price quotes will always state whether we've included 'time to source and licence stock images', and any that we use in your project are automatically licenced to you (and added to your client portal*) so you can use them however you wish – within the terms of the licence from the stock library.
*Every Pixooma client is provided with a secure 'Client Portal' where you can find lots of useful content and links including all completed project files and your invoices.
We (Pixooma Ltd) retain the copyright to everything we produce, but you (the client) automatically have an unlimited licence which grants you the right to use the work we supply to you however you wish, whenever you want and for as long as you need. These rights are transferred to anyone who buys your business in the future.
This approach means that we can continue to promote our work whenever we need, without gaining permission from each client everytime, but it does not limit our clients in anyway.
Our standard process is:
- 50% Deposit – before any work starts
- 40% Interim payment – usually a key milestone such as delivery of first visuals or after an agreed time has elapsed
- 10% Completion – Only when the project has been completed to your satisfaction do we issue the final invoice
On occasion we can offer monthly payment terms and there is normally a 10% surcharge on the total cost for this service
For anything that's for online use (or where you are using your own print supplier) we'll send you a final version of the approved artwork in a suitable format. And we'll add it to your client portal*.
If we're using one of our trusted print partners we'll liaise with them and provide them with the files they need. They'll then deliver your finished project to you directly. The final 'Press' PDF(s) will also be added to your client portal*.
*Every Pixooma client is provided with a secure 'Client Portal' where you can find lots of useful content and links including all completed project files and your invoices.
No. And here's why…
- We're creative consultants and we operate collaboratively with you to fully understand your needs and provide bespoke solutions. If you don't like our designs then we'll go back and create new ones and work with you until you are completely happy. Pitching for work reduces the design process to a 'Beauty Parade' with a simple 'like/dislike' for every idea presented from each party.
- We still have to take a lot of time and effort to create the design concepts and there is a possibility of losing all the time invested into it. And without the insights that a consultative approach brings (see point 1) this is much more difficult. Ultimately the odds of 'winning' naturally reduce with every new agency that's asked to pitch. Thereby increasing the chances that our investment in time and money will be lost.
- The concept of pitching for work seems to be something that almost exclusively happens within the creative industries and it's a real problem, as it seriously devalues the work of a designer and agency. You wouldn't ask your car mechanic, your financial advisor, or anyone else to produce work entirely for free and in competition with several others.
Most importantly of all - YOU lose out with this approach. On the face of it, it seems like a good deal – you get multiple ideas to review (and for free) and then can work with the agency that produces the design you like the most. BUT, what if you don't like any of them? What if, with more information and insight one of the other agencies would have come up with a much better idea that you'd LOVE rather than picking the best of 'what's there'?
The key is to set realistic customer expectations, and then not to just meet them, but to exceed them — preferably in unexpected and helpful ways.
