Could you be a

one in ten?

Mark Coster

For those of you who are old enough to remember the 1981 classic song from UB40 - One in Ten, all you need to know is that it might have been the inspiration for our latest client 10th business birthday promotion

As you may know, I think I’ve mentioned it quite a few times in recent months, Pixooma are currently celebrating their 10th business birthday year - this runs from March 2024 to April 2025. To date we’ve done plenty of activities, there was a special logo, new email sign off, cupcakes and of course plenty of PR surrounding this milestone, but that didn’t feel quite special enough. So to mark this event more significantly, I decided that I wanted to give back to those loyal clients who have steadfastly supported us during the past decade.

I decided that I wanted to give back to those loyal clients who have steadfastly supported us during the past decade.

How does it work?

That’s why I came up with the idea of a One in Ten, a sort of thank you promotion to enhance their client experience; make our relationship more meaningful. Something tangible that would leave them happy, satisfied and perhaps with that nice warm fuzzy feeling. The premise behind One in Ten is simple. Every tenth proposal that I receive from a client during our birthday year, will result in their organisation having that project designed for free.

Obviously, there are a few parameters here:

There is a £1000 limit on the free project, so if it went ahead and the amount quoted was £1500, then I would simply discount £1000 from the price.

The promotion doesn’t apply to repeating project such as magazines and subscriptions

It relates to design work only, not project elements that are outsourced to Pixooma's trusted partners like copywriting or print.

The winners so far

To date, I’m delighted to announce that we have had two winners.

Beyond Theory
Beyond Theory are one of our longest standing customers. One of the many project types we've produced for them over the years has been designing survey infographics for their customers, and this was their latest request. When we told Paul Beesley that his business was a winner and that his new project would cost him nothing, he insisted on paying the value of the project to a charity of our choice.
Project saving: £492 inc. VAT

Leaseholders' Community
We'd worked many years ago with Christine Butenuth and Michael H De Freitas on another of their businesses. In early 2024 they came to us to design a logo for their new business, The Leaseholders' Community. A few months later when they approached us about a direct mail campaign, I was pleased to be able to tell them that the design costs for the direct mail postcard(s) would cost them nothing!
Project saving: £534 inc. VAT

So the total value of free work so far has been £1026 inc. VAT with Beyond Theory’s project fee £500 being given to charity.

Still time left for you to win too and you can keep up with the latest savings here

Why does my design need ‘Bleed’?

I’m sure you’ve seen printed materials with noticeable white space around the edges, or part of the design (image or graphic) effectively cut off.

Running a successful business is a journey, not a destination

In March, I wrote a blog reflecting on 10 years in business and dealing with some questions about how it all started. In this month’s blog I would like to talk about how we got to where we are now.

Festive traditions – why they still matter!

We all have festive family traditions and established routines, sometimes from our childhood, often without even taking the time to think about them and acknowledge their significance
